Today we have an amazing project to show you. At CHA Winter 2012 we released the Modern Millinery Slice Fabrique Design Card which is perfect for cutting flowers out of fabric and out of paper. Making Memories has a ton of awesome Design Cards and let me tell you a little secret... almost all of the Slice Fabrique cards can be used to cut paper too!
Supplies:
Modern Millinery 12"x12" Double-Sided Paper
Sticks or Wire
Steps
1. Cut paper petals from Modern Millinery Design Card [8 of the same size for each flower]
2. Crunch petals to give them texture
3. Start with the center of the flower by rolling the paper, use hot glue to glue the bottom and continue to build the flowers
4. Cut leaves from Modern Millinery Design Card and glue to a stick or thick wire
Just look at these amazing flowers that are perfect for home decor, a wedding bouquet or even gift. Project is made with the Modern Millinery Design Card and Modern Millinery Paper!

One of my favorite ways to add a subtle, and classy, design to my layouts involves embossing with my Slice. It's really easy to do and I feel like it's a "bonus" use for all of those fun shapes. For this technique, you will want the image to be raised, so you'll emboss on the BACK of your paper. Also, you'll want to use a printed paper (with a white core) for this look.
Simply insert an embossing tip into your Slice. Choose the image you would like to emboss - choose the size - and if you're wanting to add words, be sure to use the "mirror image" feature so they will be facing the right direction when you flip your paper over. Go ahead and emboss your design. Now, using a fine grit sandpaper or file, and lightly rub the design on the raised side. The color will be removed and you'll be left with a beautiful outlined image.
Try this technique out today, you are going to love it!
How about trying this little twist when using Making Memories' Slice cordless digital design cutter. Keisha has created a gorgeous project using the "negative space" after cutting a shape from the Paper Reverie design card.
Home decor project: mat the negative cut leaf, place paper reverie pattern paper behind it. Also add a word cut-out and some gold sequins!
There possibilities are endless, explore your creativity using both the cut shape and negative space from the shape!
Sometimes when I'm putting together a page, it's hard to find just the right embellishment in just the right color. That's why I love making my own embellishments with my Slice. On this layout, of my son's first time at the beach, I used my slice in a number of different ways.
First, I cut two surf boards from patterned paper. I layered white cardstock behind them and then I stitched around the edges with my sewing machine to give them a little bit of personality. I even added a metallic star brad on one of the boards, just to tie it in to the other metallic elements on the page.
Second, I made this fun little wooden sign to coordinate with my layout. I cut the sign from two different papers, then cut off the boards from teh dark paper, added rub-ons and then attached each board to the lighter sign with adhesive foam squares.
Finally, I wanted to add the "beach" die-cut to my page as well, and I wanted to tie it in with the metallic flowers in the corners, so I added gold glitter to the entire piece. With the Slice, it's easy to make your own embellishments to coordinate with any paper line, any photos, any theme!
Keisha always brings us beautiful projects and this layout is exactly that! Using the Slice Digital Design Cutter, she has created this layout layering different materials keeping this layout unique and exciting.
Layout project: Use the negative butterfly die-cuts and add felt behind the cuts to create a layered effect that is sure to catch the eye. Also layer additional die-cuts and tags to finish off the layout.
Layering is definitely not new to scrapbooking, but it is one of the best ways to create depth to a page and to complete the perfect layout.
