How Many Jelly Beans?
It’s not “Pin the Tail on the Donkey,” but here’s a different game for you to play for our “Birthday Week” celebration. Tell us how many jelly beans are in the jar (don’t count the ones on the table). The first person to guess the correct amount will win a prize from the Making Memories Just Chillin’ collection.
Party Favors
Remember those cellophane bags with the crazy straws, kazoos and other cheap plastic toys? The best parties are the ones that give out party favors. These party favors were created using the Making Memories Just Chillin’ line.
If you’re looking for a way to entertain the kids, have them create their own favors for an activity. All it takes is a few small paper bags, some Making Memories ribbon trims and a few tags. You can always add stickers and other embellishments if you so desire, but keep in mind that the children will probably care more about what’s inside of the bag.
Party Decor
Okay, you have the invitations, so now it’s time for the next step: decorations. If you’re tired of the same old crepe paper, streamers and balloons, try mixing it up and doing something a little different.
These little paper fans are easy-to-make decorations that you can hang from the ceiling or scatter on a tabletop. All you need to do is take a strip of Just Chillin’ paper (if you want to continue with that theme) and make accordion folds all the way down. When your folds are complete, staple the middle of your paper. Unfold the edges and staple them together to create a paper fan. If you’re feeling creative, you can add a tag or sticker to the center of your fan.
*Tip: keep in mind that thick paper and small folds will be difficult to staple.

The first thing any party needs is invitations. Today we’re showing you how to use the Making Memories Just Chillin’ collection to create these eye-catching invites. You can choose from a selection of embellishment and specialty papers or try one of the journaling books from this colorful collection. Color coordinate your invites with any number of Just Chillin’ embellishments and stickers and you’ll be guaranteed an invitation that stands out among the rest.
These invitations work well for birthday parties, girls’ nights out or any other special event for you, your teens or your preteens.
Halloween Table Décor
Hosting a spooky dinner party? Don’t forget the name tags! Today’s design challenge comes from Laura Vegas. Laura shows us how to use the Making Memories’ Spellbound collection and Slice cordless digital design cutter to create Halloween place cards for your special occasion.
To create this project, do the following:
1. Cut a 8.5” x 8.5” piece of Making Memories' Spellbound glitter dot black paper and
use the Slice to cut a 3-inch pumpkin (from the Spellbound Design Card) on the bottom right corner. Fold
the paper in half.
2. Cut a 4.25” x 8.5” piece of Making Memories' Spellbound orange brocade paper and
adhere it to the inside of your place card, allowing the orange paper
to show through the negative pumpkin cut-out.
3. Cut a 3.5” x 4.25” piece of green cardstock and mat it with green
dot pattern paper. Round the top corners and glue it to the left side
of your card.
4. Adhere a strip of Spellbound trim across the front of the card and
tuck it around the negative pumpkin cut-out.
5. Add Spellbound chipboard alphabet stickers for your name. Decorate the card with thread and buttons from the Spellbound embellishment box.
6. Add Spellbound foam stickers or Spellbound line art stickers to the inside of the place card. They should show through the negative pumpkin cut-out.
These place cards are sure to make your guests feel special – and you’ll feel pretty proud yourself. Keep watching our blog for more great party ideas.
Trick-or-Treat Bag
This Halloween, how about sending your kids out trick-or-treating in style? These personalized candy bags are a great alternative to the pillowcases and plastic bags your kids usually use to tote around their treats. This simple project is made even easier when you use the Making Memories’ Slice cordless digital design cutter.
1. Glue a strip of Spellbound paper to the front of the bag. (If you want to get really creative, you can create a fringe from the newsprint die-cut paper.)
2. Using the alphabet on the Spellbound design card for the Slice, cut out your child's name for the front of the bag.
3. Embellish the rest of your bag with Spellbound stickers and trims, or use the Slice to cut out Spellbound shapes.
The possibilities are endless, so employ your creativity and have fun!
