Today, we are excited to share a guest designer with you – Deb Harter. She created a fabulous layout below using a variety of Making Memories products. She also provides detailed instructions to create your own pleated ribbon!
I used the Making Memories’ Paper Reverie Sienne Collection for my page. The shimmer alphabet stickers are from the Noteworthy Collection. The large circles are machine stitched, and the pleated ribbon tutorial is below.
To create your own 12” pleated ribbon, start with about a yard of ribbon, and cut a 12” strip of cardstock that is smaller in width than the ribbon. Add a layer of adhesive across the strip of cardstock. I used ATG tape on mine.
Starting at one end of the cardstock, adhere one end of the ribbon, and start making pleats across the length of cardstock. It doesn’t matter if they are sticking up and don’t look neat because you are going to sew them down.
Once you get to the end of the cardstock, trim off any excess. Using a sewing machine, straight stitch down the center of the ribbon, laying down and straightening pleats as needed as you go. Trim ends and threads and you are done!
I hope you enjoy!
