Today we are excited to have Melinda Spinks as the Making
Memories’ guest designer. Melinda created a project using the Making
Memories’ Flutter collection. Melinda explained how she created this layout.
I couldn't have been happier when I set eyes upon the Flutter collection from Making Memories because it was everything I love in a product. It’s whimsical, colorful, it has lots of cute critters and plenty of pieces to fussy cut and create a story-book style page.
To create all the little tufts of grass dotted around the round frame I hand-drew the outline onto the 'Green Floral Glitter Flutter' paper and fussy-cut each piece, time consuming but definitely worth the effort as it adds a unique touch to your layout. All the flowers have been built in layers using 'Flutter' Mixed layer die-cuts, Design Shop Spring Quotes, Design Shop Spring Bugs, Flower Clear Foil Paper and 'Animal Crackers' velvet brads and attached with varying thickness of foam adhesive.
I was really excited to find that the canvas leaves from the Mixed Layer Die-Cuts ran straight through my little crimping machine to give them a crisp crinkle cut definition to add a bit of texture and for a bit of fun!
One of my favorite parts to a layout is the addition of critters, especially when I get the chance to paper pierce or hand-stitch little flight trails to add that extra bit of interest and cuteness! In this case it was paper piercing behind the little felt lady-beetles which framed the photo in a subtle way and gave the layout its finishing touch!
