Vintage Groove on a Layout

I have been thinking for a while now that the Vintage Groove jewelry by Jill Schwartz is so pretty it will make the most perfect accent on a page! So this past week I made some cards and wanted to use the same idea on a page. I cut out a bunch of circles and used little Vintage Groove Jewelry charms as accents on the circles. I love the textured effect. And I love how romantic it makes the page feels.

So my design challenge to you is make a page and includes some Vintage Groove Jewelry bits and pieces in a page!

Guest Designer Erica Hettwer

Today Erica Hettwer is Making Memories' Guest Designer. She created a bunch of projects using Making Memories Panorama collection to share with you.

The Panorama collection can be travel themed but that’s not all they are great for.  Erica was able to use Panorama to represent both her journey to finding a new home and her grandmother’s life experiences. 

Panorama Items Used: Specialty Multi Pack (8x8) Foil Moroccan, Foil Stripe and Diecut Stamp, Label Stickers, Monogram Alphas

Erica's How-to:

• Layer Foil Stripe paper on Foil Moroccan paper.  Tuck end of photo under stripe paper.
• Cut out three design squares and three flowers from Foil Moroccan paper.  Mount flowers on squares with foam adhesive.
• Layer title sticker under journaling sticker.
• Adhere squares to Foil Stripe paper in a line with Journaling spot and adhere “A” sticker to corner of photo,
• Cut out center of Die-cut Stamp paper and set aside for another project.  Mount the stamp edge as a frame for layout with foam adhesive.

Panorama Items Used:Label Stickers, Monogram Alphas, Specialty Multi Pack, Corrugated Alpha, Trims, Design Shop stickers

Other Making Memories Items Used:

• Tiny Alpha Stickers
• Slice Cordless Digital Designer
• Slice Design Card Vintage Findings

 

Erica's How-to:

• Mount Floral paper onto 12x12 sheet.  Mat photo with cardstock and adhere to floral paper
• Cut out stamp shape from cardstock and cut out again using shadow setting.  Adhere shape to shadow using foam adhesive.
• Adhere journaling spot to layout and embellish with stickers as shown.
• Adhere ribbon to bottom section of layout.  Tuck tiny type alphas under ribbon.  Ink and adhere corrugated alphas to top of ribbon.

Erica said don’t be afraid to alter products to make them work for you.  On my Our Paradise Found layout, I inked the corrugated letters with lime green and copper ink and I removed the bottle green sticker base from the palm tree sticker on my journaling block.  On the layout about my grandmother, I removed the light blue sticker base from the “A” sticker and I changed the orientation of the letter “A” on the sticker itself.  I also trimmed out the center of the Die=cut Stamp sheet so I could use the postage stamp edge as a frame for the layout.

Mixing Materials

Road Trip Treats! Yum Yum

In our house, summertime means lots of things - sunshine, BBQ's, the lake, popsicles, and road trips!  Yes, we spend plenty of time in the car every summer - whether it's traveling a short distance to a lake, the mountains, or the pool, or a little farther - like an all-day drive to Grandma's house.  After one or two road trips, we're looking for ways to keep the kids happy and occupied (and NOT asking us 'how much longer' every 3 minutes).  One of the best ways I've found to keep them happy is to keep the treats coming.  In an effort to keep things new & exciting, I thought it would be fun to use my scrapbooking supplies to jazz up some of our treats for our next road trip.  Pretzels are a staple for this traveling family, but if each child has his own individual bag of pretzels, well, it's much more fun!

 
Making Memories’ Panorama collection is perfect for adding a bit of fun to your road trip treats.
 
For this little pretzel bag, I pulled out my Panorama supplies and simply created a little bag wrap with the varnished street sign paper, then I embellished it with transportation paper, masking tape, ribbon, a tag, stickers, rub-ons, a flower, a couple of stacked buttons, and a cute little star brad.  It sounds like a lot of product, but by using elements from the same line, it went together quickly and turned out really cute.  I'm excited to present my kiddos with their own little decorated bag of goodies on our next road trip!
