Perfect Layout Ideas for your Teens

April may be over, but we still have time to show you one more Making Memories Just Chillin’ design challenge.  This layout, “Baseball Friends,” uses Just Chillin’ Boy paper, metallic rub-ons, badge brads and trims.  The unique thing about this particular layout is that it also uses the new Slice Sports design card.

Begin by adhering your paper to a piece of spiral bound journaling paper and adhere it on top of Just Chillin’ Foil Star paper.  Put that on the top right corner of 6”x6” paper and place strips Plaid and the striped side of Crown Brocade paper on the sides.  Sew a piece of trim over your paper and add rub-ons, a badge brad and shimmer stickers to give your layout a title.  Now you can use the Slice Sports design card to cut out the shapes you need.  If you want to go for a bonus touch, you can try sewing on your shapes to add some extra detail.

The finished product will look great – and the best part is that it doesn’t require much to duplicate.

What’s shipping in April?

In case you haven’t heard, there are a lot of new Making Memories products headed your way this month.  Here’s what you have to look forward to:

Poster Profile: Tan Yin Wen

Scrapbooking extends around the entire world and today we have a project that comes to us all the way from Singapore.  Tan Yin Wen created this beautiful poster profile using products from the Making Memories Just Chillin’ line.

Here are Tan Yin Wen’s instructions:

1)     Using the sewing machine, I first created an irregular square stitched frame in the middle of the page where I wanted my photo and embellishments to be. I did the sewing twice to show the irregularity and to have the lines overlapping.  This also thickened the frame slightly. I added zig zag stitches to one small portion of the square frame and a tiny bowed ribbon to add dimension.

2)     I matted the photo with Making Memories Just Chillin’ Girl paper, which I gave a torn look on one side, and layered above it a page from one of the Making Memories Just Chillin’ spiral journaling books.

3)     As the photo had a wide empty side to its right, it was a great place to place the title of the layout. The Just Chillin Canvas Alphas were just right for the page with the matching color tones.

4)     I finished off by framing the photo with Making Memories Just Chillin’ Girl chipboards, die cuts, rub-ons and other embellishments.

Even though it’s a guy layout, I wanted to have the mix of the vibrant colors from Just Chillin’ Girl paper and products. I love how versatile both the girl & boy series are.

Tag Maker – This unique design card, which is meant to be used with the Slice Tag Maker Kit or the Making Memories Tag Maker, allows you to make tags out of alphas, numbers and shapes.  Tag-making has never been so efficient.

Perfect Layouts for Teens

It’s time for another Making Memories Just Chillin’ design challenge.  Today we’ve got another layout that uses the Girl side of Just Chillin’.

This “Friends” layout starts with glitter butterfly paper as the backdrop with pink floral paper and journaling paper on top.  After you mount your photos, you can add some glitter rub-ons and canvas alpha stickers.  For a border, try threading trims through a chipboard tag and secure it with a glitter brad.  If you’d still like to add some decoration to your page, you can include extra glitter rub-ons or stickers, but you don’t need to add much.  Thanks to the vibrant colors and designs of the Just Chillin’ line, you can keep your page simple and it will look great!

More General Embellishments layouts from Making Memories

The new Making Memories general embellishments are just about to hit the stores.  In preparation for their release, here are a few layouts, created by Making Memories' page designer Keisha, to show you what you can look forward to. 

Embellishments act as the “cherry on top” after you’ve put together your page.  The metal sayings on this page automatically brighten up the look and allow you to say more than you can write by hand. 

These next layouts use pieces of Making Memories' looking glass, circle journaling stickers and birds & bees charms.  Notice how adding these embellishments creates depth for the layout and complements the paper.  With these items at your disposal, it isn’t difficult to create a beautiful scrapbook page you can be proud of.

More Just Chillin’ Samples

There are a lot of things about the teenage years that you probably wouldn’t like to document.  On the other hand, it would be a shame to miss out on capturing the highlights of your teen’s life.  There are the big things like birthday parties, sporting events and graduation, but don’t forget about the little moments in between.

Teen Scrapbooking/Craft Projects

This month we’ve been helping you to get acquainted with the new Making Memories Just Chillin’ line, which is great for teen scrapbooking and crafting.  So far you’ve seen a few different layouts for boys and girls in our design challenges, but did you know you can use the Just Chillin’ line for more than just scrapbook pages?

For instance, if your teen loves to decorate their notebooks or schoolbooks (and what teen doesn’t?) they can pull out some Just Chillin’ trims, layered chipboard stickers or metallic rub-ons to add a little excitement to their school gear.

They can create picture frames for their locker photos using Making Memories' Just Chillin' canvas alpha stickers, canvas brads and Just Chillin’ paper pads.

A few other ideas include birthday party invitations, wall hangings or decorations.  There’s no limit to the projects you and your teen can create with this great line.  Try throwing a scrapbooking party for your teens – they’ll love you!
