Here is another great holiday decor idea for you to enjoy.

 

1. Purchase wood letters from your local craft store or cut your own. I chose a chunky font, printed out large letters, traced them onto my wood and then used a scroll saw to cut them out.)
2. Prepare and paint wood. I painted the wood on both sides to make it look nice.
3. Place wood letter on wrong side of paper, trace and cut out. I used Making Memories Fa La La paper.
4. Modgepodge the top of wood letter and then place cut paper on it. Allow to dry.
5. Lightly sand the edges.
6. Antique the edges using a small sponge and a brown stamp pad.
7. Add rub-ons. Paint each letter with Modgepodge for a nice finish.
8. Add desired embellishments.

More Gift Ideas

If you’re running out of time to put together a Christmas gift for your friends or neighbors, here’s a quick and easy project for you.

 

Today’s gift idea comes from Jennifer Pebbles, who put together this hot chocolate mug using the Making Memories’ Fa La La line.  After you put a bag of cocoa and marshmallows inside your mug, spruce it up with Fa La La trims, holly berries and die-cut journaling stickers.  For an extra touch, you may want to add a cinnamon stick, candy cane or stirring spoon. 

You can decide how creative you want to be!

Home Décor Gift Idea 

Today Wilna shows us how to make this Candle tray, which can work as a centerpiece for your Christmas table or serve as a decorative element for a wall in your home for under $20.

You will need
1. A candle tray from Ikea.
2. Making Memories Fa La La paper and embellishments.
3. Pour-on High Gloss finish.

What to do

1. Remove the tin cups from the wood tray.
2. Using adhesive like Scotch Quick Dry, adhere Fa-la-la snowflake paper to the tray.
3. With a craft knife, remove the paper covering the holes of the tray. Don't worry about making this perfect as the tin cups will cover any imperfections.
4. Use some pictures/buttons/embellishments to fill the tin cups.
5. You can use some polystyrene to add height variations to the embellishments in the tin cups.
6. Once all your tin cups are filled, carefully place them back into their spots on the wood tray.
7. Cut some holly leaves to put around the middle tin cup and add red buttons for the berries.
8. Use some pour-on varnish and put a thin layer into each cup, letting it dry over night. This gives your project a finished look and protects the paper and pictures for years to come.

Here are a few other ideas for this project
* You can leave one or two tin cups empty and fill them with candles.
* You can fill all the tin cups with pictures and add some holly leaves to the outer border.
* Paint the paper on the tray with modge podge to preserve it against candle wax and/or any other spills.

Cocoa Tin Gift Idea

Here is another gift idea for under $10 that will surely warm your heart.  Today Laura Vegas shows us how to make this fun cocoa tin for the holidays.

 

Cinnamon stick jar
1. Purchase a jar of cinnamon sticks and peel off the store label.
2. Cut a rectangle from pattern paper using the Slice Basic Shapes design card and adhere to the jar.
3. Use Making Memories’ tiny alpha letter stickers to label the jar "cinnamon sticks."
4. Tie some string to the top of the jar.

 Cocoa powder pouches and marshmallow pouch
1. Purchase cocoa powder and mini marshmallows and add to clear baggies.  Seal shut.
2. Cut a scalloped square from pattern paper using the Slice Basic Shapes design card. Fold in half.
3. Wrap some string around one side of folded square and adhere over the top of the bags.
4. Use Making Memories’ tiny alpha stickers to label what is inside of bag.

 Metal tin box and tag
1. Cut two tag shapes of varying sizes from pattern paper using the Slice Basic Shapes design card. Adhere to each other using pop dots.
2. Using Making Memories’ glitter letter stickers and tiny alpha stickers to put the recipient’s name on the tag.
3. Add a small Fa La La glitter foam tree sticker to the tag.
4. Tie a Fa La La trim around the tin and add the tag using a safety pin.

Gift Tin Idea

Here’s a little something you can give to your kids’ teachers this season.  This gift tin was created by Stephanie Ackerman and can be recreated for less than $15. 

Start out with a gallon paint can and fill it with “Warm Winter Wishes” such as:

• A glass mug filled with chocolates and candy canes.  The candy canes can be embellished with Making Memories’ trims and a tag from the Slice Fa La La design card.

• A small brown bag filled with hot cocoa mix.  Decorate the bag with Making Memories' paper and a heart shape from the Basic Shapes 1 Slice design card.  You can use both the positive and negative space from your paper to decorate for this project.

• A kraft journal.  Cover it with Making Memories' paper, a Slice design cut, Making Memories trim and a stick pin.

• 12 blank all occasion cards.  You can add Making Memories scraps, Slice images and trims to decorate these.

Your teacher will love it!

Monogram Stationery Gift Idea

Do you ever struggle to know what to get your co-workers for the holidays? Today Maggie Holmes has shown us a great office gift idea for under $5.  This monogram stationery not only saves you on money, but because it’s so easy to duplicate, you’ll be saving on time as well.
