Wendy -Three favorite skills I have taught myself are…
1. Typing. When I was only 8 or 9 years old, I decided I wanted to learn how to type. So I asked for a typewriter for Christmas. Of course I got one because I was a really good little girl. I asked my mom to get out a textbook she used when she was taking classes to become a legal secretary. I spent hours and hours typing the exercises and drills in that book and I’ve been typing away ever since!
2. Scrapbooking. I only claim to have taught myself how to scrapbook because I started so long ago – way before all of the great classes, online tutorials, and even before all of the great magazines, idea books, and websites came about. But I’ve learned much and improved my skills since I’ve been able to learn from others, too.
3. Procrastination. Yes, sadly, I have to admit that I’ve taught myself the great skill of procrastination. I honestly don’t do it just for the sake of procrastinating, though. I always want to take as much time as possible to think about a project or assignment before I actual do it. I’m afraid if I do it early, I’ll think of something better after I’m done and then I will have to do it twice or just settle for the first (inferior) idea because I won’t have enough product or time to create the second idea!
