Keisha is a member of MM’s design team. If you haven’t seen her work, you absolutely should. She is amazing. Today wanted to get to know her a little bit better. We asked her some questions and hope you enjoy reading her responses.
How long have you been scrapbooking and what go you into it? Since 2003...not long after my 2nd daughter was born. My neighbor invited me to a Creative Memories party-that started it all!!
What is your favorite MM product?I have so many like chipboards, glitter, brads...but right now it would be the Classically Defined stickers for quick cardmaking!!
What do you listen to when you scrapbook? I have to have music playing everyday, all day! I usually enjoy upbeat music. I tend to just play AOL R&B radio, if that gets too repetitive...then I switch to iTunes. I love R&B, some rap, and jazz.
Describe your design surroundings. I love sun flooded rooms and fresh flowers. I am in a better mood to scrap on sunny days. I try to keep fresh flowers somewhere in the house, most of the time they generally end up in my studio. My studio is getting a bit cluttered, that drives me crazy. I try to keep thinks neat, I often fail when I have project deadlines to make.
What was your reaction when you became part of the MM design team? TOTAL SHOCK...it was something I always wished for, but never thought it could actually happen.
What is your favorite technique right now for scrapbooking? Finding fun simple ways to use stamps. I have so many, and I keep buying more. So I try to use my stamps as much as possible.
When you get in a creative rut, what do you do to get inspiration? I have to walk away for a while. I keep scrap magazines and idea books on the coffee table to flip through when I am watching TV. I find that when I give myself a chance to *miss it* I can come back with ideas jumping out of my head. I could spend days or over a week away then I am running back to scrap again!!
Tell us about your family
My husband LaVaughn: I met him when I was in the 4th grade-I was in awe!! He is smart and kind. He has always been funny. I love to sit and joke with him. He likes to talk a lot, lol. He went to the Navy right after high school. He has traveled the world a bit more than I have. I try to keep Oreo's on hand for his bedtime snack with his cup of cold milk!!!
Amira: She is very melodramatic!! But what little girl isn't. She has always been extremely friendly, loves to meet people. She has so many friends; she makes friends easily picked up the talking gene from her daddy! She loves living in China; her favorite class is Chinese.
Mikiela: She is mini-Mira...she does whatever her big sister does. She is my wild jumping bean, always moving. She says the funniest things, like the oven she calls it "the cook"!! She picks up her Chinese from our Ayi SoonYi. She knows important stuff like how to ask for a cup of juice or for something to eat. As soon as I leave her alone with SoonYi she is in the snack cabinet before I am in the car. SoonYi never tells her no!! And she too picked up on her daddy's talking gene; this one is a BIG talker. Loves to just go on and on...her topics changes too many times to keep up.
Me: I am the shy quiet one in the family.
What is your favorite single possession? Humm, if I had to pick something I think it would be my camera. It gives me the past, present and future. It helps to save our memories, makes us remember!!
