Pull out the older stuff…

Sometimes you just have to dig deep into your stash, and use it!!! I am such a bad hoarder. I try not to-I really do!! The best thing you ca do with your older supplies is to try to mix them in with newer supplies. Keep your pages simple so people can noticed those older embellishments. I love how the old Cosmo papers work so well with the new Anthology Dimensional Stickers (I was looking for a reason to use these floral stickers). Here's a cool way to use those photo turns on plain chipboard corners (you can also make flower petals for a unique twist on flowers!!).

Supplies: (all supplies by Making Memories)

Cosmo 4" x 4" pad

Fresh Anthology Defined Stickers

Fresh Anthology Dimensional Stickers

Fresh Anthology Jigsaw Shapes (plain)

Brads

Photo Anchors

Instructions:

1.  2 sheets of Cosmo paper cut in various sizes (4” x 4”, 4” x 2.5”, 2.5” x 1”,   3.5” x 1”) with corners rounded

2.  For the one 4” x 6” photo, add papers around the sides of the photo

3.  Add the flower stickers

4.  Place “remember” quote sticker below photo, slightly of center

5.  Glue photo corners to the photo

6.  Punch hole for the brads in the chipboard corners

7.  Add the photo anchors & brads

Go ahead and pull out some of your older supplies and give it a try.

Spring Cleaning Winners

If you have not had a chance to take a look at all the wonderful spring cleaning tips that have been listed, I suggest that you do.  I know that I got some great ideas for myself.  I’m crossing my fingers that I can take those tips in doing some major cleaning this weekend.  Maybe you can also. 

THANKS to everyone who listed a tip.  We have randomly picked 4 winners to receive our boxes of goodies.  Congratulations to the following:

• LISA who said…I've sorted through all of my scrapbooking papers, stickers, die-cuts, tools, even my magazines, and have been having a lot of fun freecycling unwanted or even (yikes!) unused items that I've accumulated over the years. Austin, TX has a fabulous network of Freecycling members and the response I've received to parceling out my scrapbooking paraphernalia has got to be the fastest thing movin' out there in the world of scrapbooking cyberspace.

• MARIA HERNANDEZ who said…I store my scrap cardstock by color in 12 x 12 envelopes in my bottom desk drawer. When I am looking for a color, all I have to do is pull the envelope out and it is easy to see if I have a scrap for the project I am working on. It helps save on not having to cut into a new sheet of cardstock because my scraps are easy to find.

• ALLI who said…I have a great ribbon storage suggestion -- I use lingerie/laundry type mesh bags. Just put the ribbon in the bag and pull an inch or two of ribbon through the mesh. I have a few bags and they're organized by color. The bags also have hooks so I can hang them up while I'm scrapping.
  
  
• SHANNON OWENS who said… I save all my scrap pieces of paper in zip lock bags... nothing new there... but I give them away to new scrapbooking friends... aka newbies to scrapbooking... and then have a get together and show them how to use the new pieces of paper for their scrapbooks... the pieces are big enough for punches or even background for a photos, etc... they love it, I get to share my love of scrapbooking, and it gets stuff out of my house.

Australia, the Great Adventure

Patty Smith (National Sales Manager) and I ventured down under on February 28^th to teach for our two Australian distributors, Print Blocks and Bumble Bee Crafts.  The sold-out 6 full days of classes were held in Melbourne and Brisbane. (Patty wants me to thank Michelle and Leonie for helping her wash all those paint brushes over and over again.) Retailers from all states of Australia and New Zealand traveled up to seven hours to attend the event. 

Even though it took us 27 hours of travel and we missed an entire day (March 1^st) due to the time changes the trip was well worth it.  The classes were awesome, the cities beautiful, and it is the end of summer so all the summer clothes are on sale. (We each bought 3 pair of sandals).  We did a taste testing on the lattes and seriously they were fabulous.  Now we are home and just back to Starbucks.

We are home again after 29 hours and 2 missed flights but we loved meeting so many enthusiastic and dedicated scrappers (and very funny too!) in the classes.  Robyn Jacques and the staff at Print Blocks and Joy Kennedy and her staff at Bumble Bee made us feel so welcome, it was an awesome experience that neither of us will soon forget.

This week’s challenge is to create a layout about the THINGS you love.  Yes, things.  Take a few minutes to walk around your home and snap some quick photos of the THINGS you love.  Print out your photos, choose some favorite products, and create a layout for your album.

I chose some of my new favorite products from the Fresh Anthology line for my page (papers, border stickers, metal tabs, defined stickers, letter stickers).  I used one of my favorite color combinations, pink and green.  When I use products and colors I love, the pages just seem to come together so easily.

As an added bonus challenge, try using the Tag Maker on your layout – I find myself pulling it out all the time – I love this tool!  When you’re done, upload you layout to our gallery or post a link in your comments…we’d love to see the THINGS you love!

Spring Cleaning where you benefit

I don’t know about you, but we’ve had spring fever at MM for a long time.  The weather has been beautiful and we keep crossing our fingers that it will stay that way.  When spring comes, so does the urge to do some spring cleaning.  We took a ½ day here and did just that.  Everyone in the office went though their individual piles of stuff and organized, put away and GAVE away until our desks were squeaky clean.  You may ask what does that have to do with me?  Well, I’ll tell you.  We packed up four big boxes of product and we are going to give it to some lucky winners.  If you want it, please leave a comment on this blog and tell us one of your favorite cleaning/organization tips. Your tip can be for organizing your home, your scrapbook space, you car, or whatever you wish.
