The challenge for this week is meant to help you create fun, but SIMPLE, handmade cards for the holidays this year. Creating your own cards is such a fun way to add a personal touch to the holidays, but it’s also just ONE MORE THING to add to the long list of “to do’s.” I’ve created some unique cards to get the wheels turning…I hope they inspire you to create your own personal holiday cards this year.
I decided to make small 3x3 cards to take to friends and neighbors along with a plate of goodies. For these cards, I simply stamped the gift box from the holiday stamp set onto the back of the new winter patterned papers, cut the pieces out, and arranged them onto the cards, embellishing them with glitter rub-ons and holiday tags.
For a completely different look (that is equally simple), try stamping on the holiday papers, and use trees instead of gifts. Embellish with ribbons and metal accents.
Here a couple of other quick and easy cards – one uses the glitter letter stickers, cheeky papers, and sports a simple tree cut from mm kids paper. The other uses the holiday paper and has simple circles punched and placed along the bottom of the card – simply embellish with glitter rub-ons for the finishing touch.
The most important thing, though, is to ENJOY the process of creating your cards – don’t think of it as a chore. Turn on some Christmas tunes, burn a yummy candle (or if you’re REALLY ambitious, bake a yummy treat to make your house smell wonderful), and if you have kids, let them help you – you’ll find that you’ll be creating wonderful traditions and memories along with the cards you’ll be sharing with loved ones this holiday season. When you’re done, upload your cards to the MM Gallery, we’d love to see your creations!
