Halloween Fun!

We had a Halloween party at work.  We thought it would be fun to share some of our Halloween costumes with you.  What were you or your kids for Halloween?  Did you do anything fun?

It's time to vote again, this time for the MM Idol winner.  The challenge last week was to create a unique home decor project, something that you would put on the wall of your family room and include photos, something that is simple enough to recreate but clever and fresh enough to inspire.  Take a look at Jennifer and Wilna's entries and place your vote.  The winner will be announced tomorrow.

Halloween Treat Dish

Halloween will be here next week, so here’s a quick and simple idea to create a fun treat dish using rub-ons.  This idea came from Christy and can be found in MM’s Celebrations book.

Instructions:

1. Clean glass dish or vase
2. List Halloween words for use on dish.
3. Start on one side and work your way around, placing a mixture of rub-on sizes, styles, and colors.
4. Overlap some words to create a continuous effect.
5. Fill jar with candy and enjoy!

Let your kids help with this project. They’ll love helping to pick and organize the rub-ons.

Small Photo Challenge

There are so many fun products in the new MM Halloween line that I had a really hard time choosing what to use on this layout. I wanted to use it all but I couldn't, so I picked a few of my favorites and went from there.

I really love the huge chipboard shapes so I used one of those as my main focal point and then printed smaller pictures instead of my usual larger photos. I just left the chipboard shape white (as it comes) but you can paint them, cover them with patterned paper or cardstock, cover them with glitter, etc. They are so fun to work with!

I also used part of the packaging that comes with the Halloween stickers on my page. It is hard to see in the scan but the strip of paper on the left with the spider webs is actually the packaging. I thought it was so cute so I just cut a strip of it to use on my page! Kind of fun to get an additional product that you didn't think you were getting!

So, the challenge for this week is to create a Halloween page and since I used smaller photos I will challenge you to do the same. Print a few photos in a smaller size instead of using one or two larger ones. And then you can use a large chipboard shape or maybe you will do a really large title as your focal point. Just switch it up a little - do something different than you usually do!

Visit to Clipper Street

Jodi and Gail went to British Columbia last weekend to visit Clipper Street and do classes and make & takes.  They got back on Monday and shared some of the stuff the learned with the rest of us while they were gone.  Here’s their list.

10. The Canucks are actually a hockey team in Vancouver...and they are not very good, but everyone still loves them.

9. Getting lost in Canada is just as easy as getting lost in the states.

8. U-Turns are not illegal.

7. Canadians know how to have fun on a weekend night!  Just look at all these fun scrappers, living it up at the Clipper Street store.

6. Planes can take off and land on water.

5. There is a bridge in Canada that a wealthy man built just to make it easier to get home.

4. Winning a Making Memories Tote can be equivalent to winning a brand new car on the Price is Right.

3. Again we were reminded of the reasons we all scrapbook, to celebrate life's relationships...what amazing people we met!

2. Serving sizes are smaller in Canada....or perhaps just a lot larger in America!

1. Clay Aiken is even nicer in person!

Thanks for an amazing trip.  We met some wonderful people and really had a great time getting to know the people of Langley and Coquitlam.

Halloween Decor Challenge

I have to admit that Halloween is probably my favorite holiday of the entire year. Maybe it’s because it’s such a fun holiday where everyone gets to play dress up and just let their hair down, or perhaps it’s because my birthday happens to fall the day before this fun and crazy day!  I love trick or treating, carnivals, bobbing for apple, and carving pumpkins… but most of all I love decorating for Halloween.

Making Memories not only has a  rockin’ Halloween line, but also cool chipboard shapes that are oversized and perfect for decorating your home! There are endless possibilities when it comes to what you can do and make with all of their Halloween products and I would love for you to share some of your homemade decorations with me!  You can share your Hallowen home décor projects here, but uploading them to our gallery.
