In honor of purple week here at Making Memories, here is a wacky little purple layout from me. Now, I freely admit—purple is not one of the colors I tend to reach for again and again. However, it is a fun, fun color, and I love how whimsical it looks on this layout. This layout, btw, contains random thoughts about my life right now—whatever popped into my head while I was creating. :o)
To design this layout, I began with a sheet of white textured 9x9 cardstock and then added the fun purple polka-dot paper for the bottom border. My all time favorite color to mix with purple is: GREEN, so I added a strip of green along the bottom. Next, I used Adobe Photoshop to create white text on a purple background (but you can do this in MS Word by creating text boxes and filling them with color, then typing in white). I printed out my journaling strips on photo paper and then attached them to my page. For each random thought I had, I found (or took) a photo to go with it, then printed the photos. Then came the fun part; I just began adding rub-ons and embellishments to match the theme of each journaling strip. I loved having the green mixed with the purple, but with the white background it was all a bit too soothing—so that’s where the red touches came in! I added lots and lots of red to spice things up. I still kept a good visual triangle with the green accents, though.
The supplies I used for this page were:
MM Rub-On Images: boy, travel
MM Rub-On Wordage: family, christmas
MM Rub-Ons Mini (for cardmaking): love 2
MM Brads Value Packs: hearts
MM Gameboard Shapes: stars
MM Kids Paper: Emma (purple dot)
MM Kids Trims: Emma
MM Cardstock: spotlight
Remember to upload your purple layouts to our gallery this week for the drawing!! As always, I can’t wait to see what you submit—everyone has such inspiring pages.
