Since we’re celebrating fathers this week, my challenge to you is to create a masculine page honoring your dad, husband, grandfather, or any male figure who has had an impact on your life. For me, that person is my dad. He truly is my hero. So I rummaged through some old photos and decided to do a page for my childhood album. These pictures were taken during my senior year in high school so please, no comments about the hair J
Something I like to add to make a layout more masculine is metal. MM has an incredible variety of metals to choose from. On my layout, I added metal mesh to the colorboard sticker frame and made it a backdrop for my photo. The mesh, together with the frame, adds instant texture while still keeping the clean look of the page. I also added some metal brads, a washer word, and a charmed enamel accent that appropriately reads, “thank you”.
Another element I like to incorporate on my “manly” pages is the color brown. Notice that I used papers from the MM Kids line. If I had filled the page with the blues and greens from the Ethan collection, my layout would probably appear more appropriate for a baby or young boy. The brown frame and the brown tweed paper from the Boho Chic line both add a touch of vintage while keeping the layout fresh.
So here’s to you, dad! The sweetest man I know. Now it’s your turn…take the challenge and celebrate the man in your life. Add a little metal, maybe even a touch of brown, and you’ll be ready to give him a gift that’s as masculine…and extraordinary…as he is J When you are finished, upload your page for all to see.
